What's the best way to investigate the thermal insulating properties of different textiles?

Get three beakers of equal size, and three fabrics one being denim the others can be cotton, wool, polyester etc.you choose.cut the materials to fit around the beakers they must be the same size, and apply to beakers, record the sizes of the fabric.pour equal amounts of boiling water in the beakers, using a thermometer record the temprature of the water every 2 or 5 minutes.some of the farics due to being good insulators will have kept the water warmer for longer.next place the beakers, fabric still intact in a basin of water so that they are wet.See and record the water being soaked up by the fabrics and the differences in soakage. Finally remove the fabrics and check the sizes, you will notice that some may have retracted due to being wet and then drying.this shows the thermal properties of different fabrics.
