If everyone drove the speed limit, and no one sped, how much gas would the nation save if any?

If you regularly drive at 75 mph and get 15 mpg, by reducing your speed to 55 mph you would see an increase of 4 mpg. or 80 additional miles of driving form the same tank of gas. At $4.25 a gallon that would have saved you $17.00 to go the same distance. Crazy as it seems, you would have arrived at your destination only a few minutes sooner. Compute these figures by the many thousands of cars that drive daily and you would not believe the savings.
