How can I get a travel doent I have a uk resident permit (indefinite leave to remain) please help?

I have indefinite leave to remain in the uk and when i asked for travel doent they (home office) told me to get it from my unfortunate county (bloody iraq) and I have applied 9 month ago still they say u have to wait and they don't even say until when, may be they min until i retired by the way this is not a goke . thank you
